Having served for years at other restaurants I was grateful for the chance to expand my repertoire as a bartender after being promoted within my first two months. Bartending opened my eyes to what it means to be fast and efficient while providing top notch service. Being responsible for a 25 seat bar along with five tables taught me how to remain sharp and attentive and friendly towards guests and coworkers no matter how stressful or busy it may get. When summer came to an end and I resumed classes with a full course load of 16 credits I continued to work thirty hours a week and maintain a grade point average of 3.4. Balancing work and school helped me to develop much needed time management skills that I will continue to carry with me. Show less

In my role as a server I was able to gain intrapersonal skills that will translate to any field. I was able to increase my sales each of the last three years despite having to work through the pandemic. As I grew in my role I was given responsibilities as a closer who is trusted with ensuring the restaurant is cleaned and ready for the next day of service.
