Worked with a small team to design, build, commission and run an industrial-scale demonstration unit for process trials. Completed a full HAZOP for the demonstration unit to explore all potential hazards.Liaised with numerous engineering companies to obtain specific equipment needed for the demonstration plant.Explored and evaluated different technologies and chemical concepts to improve the process.

Tasked with plant commissioning project, pump and valve functionality testing – identified any snags in the software by testing the operation of the valves by following P&ID's out on site as well as the use of the SCADA control system.Created simulation on ProSimII which optimised the methanol recovery system - discovered the most efficient conditions to remove methanol from the glycerol and used cooking oil mixture.Involved in the start-up and troubleshooting of the separators – performed acid and base tests on biodiesel samples from the separators to ensure it was within the specification.

Re-designed all the plants PFD’s using AutoCAD, created a legend containing process details such as mass flow rates and stream compositions.Used Excel to assemble a mass balance for each unit operation within the plant.Took the lead on writing an improvement plan for the granulation plant. Worked closely with the engineers involved with this plant to remove their concerns as well as to analyse the health and safety aspect of this plant. Plan was presented to management.Created a chemical database which included the main properties of the chemicals used on site so everyone could refer to it.

Member of the design project team which was tasked with creating the plan for a new layout of an existing building. Provided a solution to the drainage problem which resulted in the designing of a newly shaped roof.Responsible for maintaining spill kits. Part of a hazard identification team monitoring key areas of the reactor building.Part of AMCO engineering, where I completed my asbestos awareness training.
