I am currently the Product Test Team Leader at Markerstudy. My role includes leading the team that is in charge of testing all our rates releases, fixes, and new developments across our range of products. My job is to manage the day to day activities of the team, including coaching and training of members, set testing objectives, and to ensure that all tasks are signed off as per the deadlines set to the business and the relevant project plans.

I worked as a Product Writer within the Rating Services team. My role involves the building and creation of new IHR and software house rated products, and the maintenance of existing products, in both the Landscape development area and the Polaris Product Writer software. My role includes communicating with the business analysts and software houses concerning requirements for new integrations, updating the products with new rules and rates based on monthly pricing changes, advising the support teams and the underwriters on the functionality of the software, and debugging and subsequently fixing any errors that may arise. Additionally, I am involved in the testing of our products in the development area, and in providing estimates and schedules for any proposed changes to release manager. To assist with testing, I built an automated XML generator in Visual Studio, which helped in batch testing in the development area.It is a hands on role which has placed me at the centre of the business, liaising with every team and department, massively increasing my communication and organisational skills, as well as my technical understanding of motor insurance. It is often a high pressured role as meeting deadlines for rates changes and delivery of new products is key, but demands a high level of accuracy and work ethic, as any errors could potentially cost the company by miss-selling insurance, especially in our direct products in which no brokers are involved. It is often a varied role, as we are now expanding into commercial products using the Quotall platform, and mobile products with the Trice app. Ultimately, this role has allowed me to increase my skills in several areas, making me a far more well-rounded and ambitious employee. In my last performance review, I received a grade of outstanding in every area, reflecting my intense pride in my work and the intensity to which I apply myself.

I was an Product Analyst (QA) working within the Quality Management team. My role as an analyst was to ensure the smooth roll-out of our products, as well as ensuring the monthly rates changes were implemented correctly. This involved relating requirements from the pricing teams to the development team, scoping out the possibilities of the software house system, and testing the products, both end-to-end and via a UAT test area. Additionally, my role involved reviewing the documents that were issued to our customers to ensure they were correct, reviewing any potential errors or bugs in the rating and ensuring a fix would be scheduled where required, and generally maintaining the high quality and accuracy of our insurance policies from start to finish. In this role, I built an automated import generator using Visual Basic, which vastly improved the efficiency and speed to which we are able to test products.

I worked as a business processor for Hiscox via Capita, manually setting up commercial insurance quotes in the database. This involved conversing with underwriters and brokers to understand the requirements and needs of the potential policyholder, as well as general administration work, including ensuring emails and queries reached the correct team, and dealing with any post. I was able to build up a good relationship with everyone I worked with, due to my good-natured attitude, and the speed and accuracy of my work meant that I was often the most efficient worker on the team.
