Profile bio

About Jordan Kaiser

I earned my BS in Chemical Physics in 2014 from Lewis University and did undergraduate research under the guidance of Dr. Jason Keleher on the performance of nanoparticles for chemical mechanical planarization. I earned my Ph. D in Organic Chemistry under Dr. Brian Long at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. I worked on multiple projects spanning the synthesis of transition metal catalysts, redox catalysis, and photochemical influences on olefin polymerizations. These projects require proficient knowledge in NMR analysis, cyclic voltammetry analysis, olefin polymerization techniques, and air-free Schlenk techniques. I was also an active member in my graduate student community having held positions such as President, Secretary, Social Chair, and Graduate Student Senate Representative for the Association of Chemistry Graduate Students. Following my graduation, I worked at the Air Force Research Lab under the guidance of Dr. Luke Baldwin. Here I used modern polymer characterization techniques to research novel covalent adaptable networks surrounding silicone-based thermosets. In addition, I was the operator and POC of a flow chemistry unit used to synthesize small molecules and polymers in both small and large batches. After being a contract scientist for AFRL, I accepted a management position with Rawlings Sporting Goods specializing in leather technology. This position involves managing the production process of MLB leather, building an R&D lab on-site with instrumentation acquisition and proper SOP development, improving QC protocols and testing methods, developing new leathers requested by customers, exploring alternative raw materials and interacting directly with suppliers, improving the chemical handling practices for a safer work environment, and assessing and adjusting over 30 production formulations for optimal performance and product quality.

Listed skills include Leadership, Engineering Plastics, Microsoft Office, Plastics, and 14 others.
