When I arrived at EMI, production was managed by a series of loosely connected systems, advancing our products from design, production, assembly, fulfillment, and installation, via a series of manual integration steps. I was tasked by the owner to find ways to improve the overall process.I introduced a team-based .NET application development environment, and developed and implemented a propriety suite of database-driven .NET applications, designed to track and manage the pre and post-design phases of our production process. Critical features include on-demand delivery of CAD data to production machines; part, product, and shipment labeling; barcode-tracking; and field collection.I architected the underlying integration database, introducing a part-production framework that accepts CAD data derived from AutoCAD drawings, and tied this production data with job, work order, and scheduling data. Along with the increased capability and control, this effort has also enabled us to jettison aging and underperforming processes and systems.
