Hi there! I've always dreaded the "tell us about yourself in one sentence" question because a poet I am not. But I am not one to shy away from a challenge so here it goes. I am passionate about infusing innovation with purpose and love working with people inspired by an idea, a cause, a mission.

CreatorI Heart Shreveport May 2019 - PresentShreveport, Louisiana Area2019 was going to be the year I stopped dreaming and started doing. When I decided to move back from Austin I searched high and low for Shreveport blogs. I wanted to know what all the cool kids were doing these days. Blogs on Austin were a dime a dozen. But alas I couldn’t really find anything on all the cool Shreveport things despite the fact cool things were happening. So three years later I started an Instagram account to highlight all the things we love about Shreveport. I’d love a follow at @iheartshreveport. If we want all the cools things we’re doing in SHV to become part of our identity, WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THEM.

Associate DirectorMlk Health Center & Pharmacy Dec 2017 - Present865 Olive StreetWhy should your neighbor's health matter to you? When our community is without a safety net for the uninsured or underinsured, our families struggle. When you or your neighbor struggles with a chronic condition without access to healthcare, the whole community struggles. At MLK Health Center & Pharmacy, we work to extend comprehensive primary healthcare and pharmacy services at no cost to uninsured patients with chronic illness who otherwise often forgo routine medical care because of a lack of resources.

Ethical Style DirectorPurse & Clutch Jun 2016 - Dec 2017Shreveport, Louisiana AreaMy love of fashion was inspired by my grandmother who was nothing short of a fashionista. Oh, how I loved watching her arrive dressed to the nines no matter the occasion. However, my love affair with fashion changed after watching The True Cost documentary. I began to see how the fashion industry itself was riddled with oppression and disregard for the environment. I also saw how I was complicit in both.I joined the Purse & Clutch team because I wanted to take responsibility for my fashion choices and their implications. I wanted to be part of community of people who cared how things are made.We by no means have all the answers figured out, but we’re committed to challenging ourselves and the industry on the way we do business (and consume fashion). As the NW Louisiana Ethical Style Director, I work to promote P&C brand, open dialogues about ethical fashion, and expanding the P&C team. -
Account ExecutiveVici Media Group Jan 2014 - Nov 2017Austin, Texas AreaVici Media was founded to solve a problem. It’s the struggle to effectively tell a story that not only captivates but ignites a new generation of thinkers, sayers and doers. We are a group of ambition designers and storytellers who obsess over deliving creative and exceptional experiences for cause-driven clients through innovative media and disruptive communication. As an account executive I get to be apart of the collaboration of minds to develop innovative designs that tells each client’s unique story. Most of my daily work includes strategy calls with clients/campaign teams to outline weekly objectives. I partner with our designer to translate the objectives into a series of digital art pieces that creates a narrative. On any given week, I am responsible for managing 7-10 clients/projects. -
Community Engagement CoordinatorAllies Against Slavery Mar 2015 - Jun 2016Austin, Texas AreaI first learned of the tragedies of human trafficking while traveling through Bosnia and Herzegovina. With a broken heart I came back to the States and started engaging the local movement to end modern slavery. As someone who's always had a deep passion for working with people to identify their own capacities for change, I have the privilege of coordinating Allies' Community Engagement efforts. I work with our local community to help individuals engage the anti-trafficking movement within their own unique spheres of influence. -
Legal AssistantWeems, Schimpf, Gilsoul, Haines, Landry And Carmouche Jan 2008 - Dec 2013Five years working in the legal world taught me many things about case management, critical thinking, attention to detail and the art of delivering quality customer service. As a legal assistant I worked directly with attorneys Joe Gilsoul and Kyle Moore in the drafting of estate plans and successions. Attention to detail and consistency was paramount. I became effective at managing multiple clients at one time. Due to the nature of our work, I had many experiences that allowed me to hone my abilities to communicate compassion, understanding and patience with our clients.During my time at "the Firm" (always wanted to say that), I managed the intake of 3-5 new clients a week while continuing project management on 7-10 ongoing files. -
InternNobel Women'S Initiative May 2013 - Aug 2013Ottawa, Canada AreaThe six founding Peace Laureates of the Nobel Women's Initiative decided to bring together their extraordinary experiences in a united effort for peace with justice and equality. I had the amazing privilege to be apart of this collective effort to shine light and amplify the voice of women defenders of peace. My specific role beautifully infused my passion for human rights and storytelling. While in Belfast, I coordinated and lead the documentation team (5-8 in-country volunteers) responsible for capturing all the key messages and themes arising from our conversations on women's role in demilitarizaiton.Returning to Ottawa it was my responsibility to synthesize all the notes from five plenary sessions and multiple break out sessions to create a comprehensive report framework outlining the conference's findings. I was delegated a significant amount of autonomy to develop the framework and overall direction of the report. The experience profoundly deepened my appreciation for both the art and power of effective storytelling. -
StudentCentenary College Of Louisiana Aug 2009 - May 2013Shreveport, Louisiana AreaYou enter college with one set of expectations and often leave with a different set. At 18 years old, I entered college with a specific plan to develop the skills and experiences I needed to become a Foreign Service Officer with the ultimate goal of transitioning into the Civilian Response Corp (FSOs uniquely qualified to deploy to conflict zones). One semester in D.C. my junior year shattered all my plans in the best way. My ultimate, guiding passion is my passion for people. I quickly realized that although working for the government would increase my ability to affect public policy, I would oftened be far removed from the people I actually wanted to serve. With three semesters left I had to completely redefine my plan. I dedicated my time, my research and my volunteer efforts into non-profit work. Those last three semesters were the most meaningful in terms of both academic and personal growth. Some questions were answered, but it seemed as if each question answered opened the door to three new questions. I graduated with a degree in Political Science with the bulk of my research dedicated to understanding the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration process of former child soldiers. I graduated with a plan to do what I can. What that is exactly is still being defined! Stay tuned for more details.

Research InternCenter For Complex Operations Sep 2011 - Dec 2011National Defense UniversityAt the Center for Complex Operations (CCO) I researched the organizational structure and function of the Civilian Response Corp (CRC) within the State Department to identify potential areas for collaboration. I presented the findings of my research to Ambassador Herbst with recommendations for inter-agency collaboration between the CCO and the CRC. I also documented an inter-agency and administrative issues addressed in a two-day U.S. Department of Agriculture Lessons Learned Workshop for agricultural advisers returning from deployments in Provincial Reconstruction Teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, and contributed to subsequent event report.
