I am currently advising undergraduate research in human-computer interaction (HCI) and data analytics. As a self-employed consultant, I work with organizations and individuals all over the globe on a wide range of technology and engineering projects, especially with startups. Most recently, I was the CTO and one-man engineering team of di8it Charts, a data visualization startup acquired in under 1.5 years! In my graduate research, I worked collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team of cardiologists, biomedical researchers, and medical professionals from around the globe to engineer novel computational procedures and tools for clinical assistance and translational studies. In summary, I have developed algorithms and software tools aimed at automatically extracting various features of interest within cardiac MRI. The resulting segmented images are then used to construct patient-specific computerized 3D virtual models for use in clinical simulation studies. The ultimate aim is to use these modeling procedures to better understand abnormalities within the heart and to aid clinicians prior to surgery. This allows users to easily analyze the data or re-format the charts to fit within their company's brand.As the one-man CTO, software, network, and systems engineer of our startup team, I engineered the propriety and novel image processing algorithms and system to automatically extract raw data from uploaded chart images. I also developed the front end functionality to seamlessly allow users to upload and configure their chart images to reliably extract the raw data from the images.
