Welfare Support Officer
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
As Welfare Support Officer, I supported the wellbeing of both our office staff and our healthcare workers. Internally, I drove social events such as monthly morning-teas and festive celebrations, as well as fundraising initiatives such as International Women's Day and Movember. With our Pacific Island carers, I developed and delivered a series of 'training' presentations during their first two weeks in Australia to ensure they felt prepared and comfortable living in a new country. These presentations covered a wide range of topics, including health, finance, homesickness & culture shock, Australian laws and more.I also assisted the employee onboarding team with mobilising groups to their working locations. This involved flying with the group to the location, showing them around their new town, helping them settle into their new homes, taking them shopping and facilitating a meet and greet with their workplace. I also introduced the HealthX newsletter, which is a quarterly summary of reminders, events and achievements that is sent out to our healthcare staff.
