Utilizing the leadership insights learned from 12 years in one the the largest nonprofit networks to support the growth and adaptive change of people trying to make the world a better place. Through deep consultation practices, engaging and innovative meeting design and facilitation, and personal coaching, I want to help people and groups be the powerful force for good that we all can be in the world.

- Bringing the lessons of User Experience and Human Centered design to the largest domestic hunger relief network in the country. - Engaged in deeply understanding the make-up of the Feeding America network ranging from the 60,000 member agencies to 200 food banks. - Based off of this understanding, design new ways to engage that embody a set of network leadership competencies used to unleash the collective strength of the network. - Developed tools to support food banks and agencies in broadening their ability to serve people facing hunger in their communities. Tools include Agency Personas, guides for effective engagements that lead to real solutions, and new model for engaging local organizations in movement level initiatives.

• Establish and execute a departmental strategic plan, capacity building strategies and key initiatives for meal distribution models for targeted populations• Actively collaborate with members, nonprofit and government organizations, and donors on the issues of program development, resource integration, and best practice sharing• Develop systems, processes, and tools to better support the facilitation, collection, and sharing of knowledge that is generated from programs data and utilized to attract and steward major individual, corporate and foundation donors• Develop planning tools and documents to advocate for financial and in-kind resources and partnerships that will support the national office and member food banks in better meeting the needs of targeted populations• Ensure proper stewardship and strategic alignment of multi-year multimillion dollar gifts from major individual, corporate and foundation donors• Manage nine of Feeding America’s operational budgets totaling over $10.5 million and approximately 10% of Feeding America’s overall expenses. • Strengthen team culture by attracting, developing, coaching, and retaining high-performance team members• Represent Feeding America national programs work at internal and external conferences, briefings, meetings and events including meetings with top officials at the USDA, Veterans Administration, Corporation of National and Community Service and major donors such as Morgan Stanley, Walmart and Hershey

• Managed Feeding America’s contractual relationship with 32 member food banks by completing on-site audits as well as support visits to ensure the integrity of the Feeding America network and provide technical support to member food banks• Created and implemented capability training opportunities such as board development retreats and strategic planning sessions that ensure members are in compliance with the member contract and have the skills needed for continuous improvement• Co-led efforts to streamline the audit process through analyzing the current process and identifying areas of inefficiency or subjectivity, as well as making the member experience more user friendly during the pre-audit process• Gained in-depth education in the third party food safety audit process, including consulting struggling food banks in order to prepare them to pass the contractually required audit• Actively participated in multiple cross-functional committees and project teams at the National Office including the planning and implementing of national conferences such as the Agency Capacity Programs and Nutrition Conference, Food Sourcing and Operations Conference and the Mobilizing the Public Conference• Actively consulted with three member food banks to move them from probationary status with Feeding America in to full compliance with the member contract. This included mitigating total pest infestations; supporting the creation of financial record keeping policies; consulting on fund development opportunities including retail enablement, cause marketing and major gift campaigns; and completely overhauling board policies and procedures

• Supported food banks in the areas of advocacy, public policy, food and fund procurement and disaster relief including garnering large gifts from state wide agricultural organizations• Built relationships with state agencies, legislators, donors, food manufacturers and distributors resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars and pounds of food for the member food banks• Led legislative efforts at the federal and state level to support the creation, growth and sustainability of hunger relief programs such as SNAP Outreach, TEFAP, and the passage of legislation creating a state level tax credit for farmers donating produce and a state food purchase fund

• Coordinated and developed the Northeast Iowa Food Banks relationship with almost 200 agencies and over 300 programs in the service area• Implemented disaster relief efforts in collaboration with FEMA and other national disaster relief organizations within the 16 county service area • Planned and implemented capacity building programs and conferences for the member agencies • Led the local efforts to educate Iowa’s congressional delegation during the 2008 Farm Bill• Coordinated and implemented the 2010 Hunger in America study locally
