- Designed and conducted research projects to investigate the innate immune response to HIV infection, which included independent laboratory investigation, and a clinical study coordinated between multiple health care centres, resulting in the characterization of a novel biomarker of HIV-driven immune dysfunction, and a pathway inhibiting the production of interferon- Generated novel methodologies for viral quantification in a biological containment level 3 setting, which allowed for comparison of interferon production in response to viruses, and facilitated the identification of novel interferon modulating mechanisms used by influenza and HIV- Provided expertise in adjuvants and animal handling to a collaboration seeking to design a novel HIV vaccine.

Designed a next-generation immunoassay, presented the concept to a venture capital group and was granted a year’s worth of funding to acquire lab space and equipment; contributed 200 hours to the production of prototypes

- Measured and tracked the immunogenicity of childhood and adult vaccines against pertussis and polio using assays such as ELISA and virus neutralizations under GMP and GLP conditions facilitating the vaccine approvals process- Led team that processed employee samples for immune surveillance program at Sanofi Pasteur’s Toronto campus- Facilitated departments transition to laboratory information management software by updating SOPs and holding workshops to ensure team’s compliance and familiarity with software on date of launch

- Conceived, proposed, and executed a project to characterize IL-17 producing T cells and their role in diabetes, which led to the discovery of novel T cell lineages that were protective in diabetes and drove colitis, resulting in numerous conference presentations and publications
