As Director of Recreational Therapy I ensure that the recreation services are appropriately and reliably provided for our patients in all seven units at Peak Behavioral Health Services. I am the direct supervisor of two recreation techs and two art therapists. I have developed a daily theme system for the types of activities provided for our population in an attempt to provide a well rounded program for our clients to be successful in their recovery. I participate in weekly treatment teams , complete treatment plans for the entire hospital, and ensure my staff completes patient assessments.

Through my internship I will be working with veterans who are in a transitional program where we try to get them re-implemented into the community. The population that I will mainly be working with includes veterans who have suffered a traumatic brain injury or a stroke. I will be completing inventory on new patients, planning, implementing, evaluating, and recording the sessions worked with clients and learn some valuable skills in working with other professionals.

Working in the restaurant industry it is absolutely necessary to have good customer service skills. Both as a bartender and serving the service I provide is reliable and prompt. I have to be knowledgeable about the food, restaurant, beverages, promotions, limited time offers, as well as daily specials and the ins and outs of daily restaurant activities. Being a good employee in a restaurant requires one to be a dependable team member and this is shown through adequate completion of side work, restocking items when necessary, and helping to run food/beverages throughout one's shift.

With both of my coaching experiences I had to demonstrate that I was dedicated to the development of my athletes. Showing up to every practice prepared and with a positive attitude was very important in building chemistry with my team. Accommodation for different skill levels was crucial for each of the girls to develop their proficiency in the sport and to keep them interested and inspired. As a coach, I also had to be aware of the contest rules and be a positive role model for my athletes. Encouragement of sportsmanship was regularly preached and practiced as well as the importance of always having fun.

At the Child Learning Center, I was a part of the staff that was heavily involved in the school age children's summer programming. Not only did I have to manage the children's behavior/actions, I also was involved in the planning, implementing, and execution of several weekly activities. As a mentor to the children I worked with, I worked closely with my supervisor to ensure children safety as well as modeled constructive involvement in all activities.

While I worked for the Intramural Offices at UNI, I officiated several sports including 6-on-6 volleyball, 5-on-5 basketball, 3-on-3 basketball, 4-on-4 volleyball and sand volleyball. As an officiate it was important for me to provide an appropriately competitive environment that was both fun and safe. Through the implementation of intramural sports policies and rules an air of fairness and control was held throughout the games. It was important to me while working here to maintain a positive attitude and to continually try to further the development of my skills.

The general duties as a summer maintenance staff personnel was to thoroughly and quickly clean, upkeep, and improve the buildings and grounds owned by the West Branch Community School District. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction was imperative for us to finish tasks in a timely fashion. We were also encouraged to take initiative if we saw something that could be improved and needed to be taken care of. Being a team player was extremely important for this job because we needed to work in synchronization to accomplish all of the responsibilities we had to complete.
