Independence Blue Cross (IBC) is one of the largest health insurance providers in the region, serving more than 3 million people in the Philadelphia area. As a Sr. Business Systems Analyst in the Corporate Strategy department, I was responsible for interpreting business problems, opportunities for improvement, and federal and state-legislated mandates in the context of business requirements. By eliciting, documenting, analyzing, communicating, and validating these requirements for improvements to business processes and policies, primarily technical in nature, I helped ensure that viable, profitable solutions were put in place that supported the overarching corporate strategy. My proudest accomplishment was leading the effort to gather business requirements, author use cases, and develop and implement a Pegasystems automated claims adjudication system that improved auto-adjudication rates by more than 10,000 claims per day. This helped IBC reduce errors in claim processing and freed up human claims processors to work on more pressing and complicated claims.

Delaware Investments is an asset management firm with more than $180 billion in assets under management. As a Performance Analyst, I worked in a demanding, high pressure environment due to the timeliness and accuracy required of data reporting and delivery. I was responsible for developing procedures to improve data integrity and promote quick reconciliation of discrepancies. I verified daily performance returns for all mutual funds and managed accounts at the portfolio level, sleeve level, and security level. I calculated the impact of international exchange rates on the performance of accounts and reported results to portfolio managers and analysts through highly usable reports and/or directly in person or on the phone.
