About Jordan Clark

👋 I'm a bilingual sustainability strategist with an ecological design & communications background. In my role as TBG Partners' Sustainability Lead, I am overseeing the development & implementation of our Sustainability Action Plan. What this looks like right now:+ Developing & tracking sustainable performance indicators for landscape design and planning+ Identifying & addressing sustainable design literacy gaps (internal education)+ Leading & growing a firm-wide sustainability leadership team + Evolving internal tools that support sustainable design decisions+ Leading firm-wide pilot of high-level landscape carbon accounting~~~Some more about me:♻️ I try to take a systems thinking approach to every problem, and to ask questions first and often. (We all have blind spots; these are two ways I attempt to seek mine out.)🌇 I am committed to helping cities become more just, resilient, and delightful for all people. I thrive on exploring small design details, interwoven systems, and the interaction between humans and our environments. 🌱 I believe it's possible to build and maintain places that are at once ecologically restorative, human-friendly, and fun. The work is partly in the design, but it's also in how we communicate, and how participatory the process is.🎙 I co-host and produce a podcast called "We Built It That Way," which explores the sociological impacts of our built environment. We examine what values and assumptions that produced the places we call home, and how those places shape us as humans. (We're on hiatus at the moment, but we'll be back!)📻 I also previously hosted a show called 'Go Cultivate!,' and I have produced a couple other podcasts.💬 If you'd like to chat, please send me a message! I love meeting other curious people.~~~Recent speaking engagements: 🎤 Texas ASLA 2024 in Austin TX: Co-presented on nature-based solutions prioritization in San Antonio🎤 USGBC South Texas Luncheon: Presented on TBG's Sustainable Impact Compass and other tools landscape architects can use for climate positive impact~~~Please note that my posts reflect my personal views and not necessarily those of my employer.Strengthsfinder: Learner, Ideation, Restorative, Individualization, ResponsibilityKolbe-A Index: 7-4-8-2

Jordan Clark

I have over 5 years of experience in hosting, editing, and producing podcasts. I take special care in editing for clarity and keeping things moving. And I enjoy any opportunity to add a bit of humor (probably a bit too much).Co-host, editing, production, creative direction, social media:⚡️ We Built It That Way – "A show about how we shape the world around us, and how it shapes us." Co-hosted with AJ Fawver. (2021-Present)⚡️ Go Cultivate! – "The podcast for community builders." Interviews and in-house discussions, such as the "Are We Doing This Right?" miniseries. I ran this while at Verdunity. (2018-2020)

Urban Planner & Creative Lead

Dallas, Texas, Us

Urban planning & communications focused on sustainable and healthy streets and neighborhoods. I led brand development, marketing, and communications—and ensured our company's recognizable voice and aesthetic was consistent, approachable, and fun.🌲 Hosted, edited, and produced the Go Cultivate! podcast—interviews and internal discussions. (70+ episodes) 👉 established our company voice & built trust🌲 Content managed and published Verdunity's weekly newsletter and blog. ('A Few Things to Know This Week') 👉 provided weekly value in curating the week's news and adding our spin 🌲 Managed Verdunity's primary website and a second site (fiscal.verdunity.com) showcasing our fiscal analysis work and telling the story of how it's applied in your city. 👉 Fiscal analysis can be complex; this showed the thought process for the curious! 🌲 Hand-drew illustrations for presentations, websites, and merged them with digital content. 👉 put a friendly, accessible face on our rigorous analysis🌲 Designed and edited all reports, plan documents, and proposals. 👉 matched our analytical credibility with aesthetically pleasing, professional designIn addition to all that, I was also an urban planner. I designed, researched, & co-wrote 'Royse City 2030' – winner of APA-TX 2017 Comprehensive Plan of the Year award. Helped design people-friendly streets, author plans for healthy neighborhoods, and teach clients and residents about core concepts of ecologically, fiscally, and socially sustainable urban design.Communications and marketing / brand development / urban planning / site & concept design / graphic design / web design

Aug 2015 - Oct 2020

Graduate Student – Ecological Design

Northampton, Massachusetts, Us

🚲 Created a bicycle trail master plan & urban trail section design for Hopkinton, Massachusetts (the starting point for the Boston Marathon)"The Conway School is the only institution of its kind in North America. Each year it offers a 10-month graduate program in sustainable landscape planning and design. Conway immerses each diverse class of eighteen students in a range of applied landscape studies, which range in scale from residential to regional. Graduates earn a Master of Science in Ecological Design and go on to pursue a wide variety of careers in sustainability, landscape design, planning, and more. Alumni find that Conway's mix of experiential learning, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking prepares them for outstanding contributions to humanity, sustainability, and the world."What's the biggest thing I learned? To think in systems and to ask appropriate questions. And that context is crucial. This ecological approach to the design process can be applied to any type of problem. In fact, it must be.
