Along with this comes involvement in government communications, public consultation, technology research, strategy development, project implementation, and team support. I enjoy problem solving, especially anything that requires spatial analysis and I also look forward to opportunities to discuss/present the forestry industry and GIS with those both in and out of the industry.

As the Planning Forester I am responsible for preparing and submitting the General Development Plans, Forest Harvest Plans, and Annual Operating Plans and acquiring required approvals for harvest operations. Receiving the approval entails complying with government submission requirements, consulting with the public and First Nations, working with other stakeholders, and non-government organizations.As the GIS Coordinator I manage our spatial datasets. I research GIS technology to help facilitate our Forestry operations and manage our enterprise system. I provide in house support to the staff in the form of training, dataset creation, mapping, map templates, and other GIS products. Other duties include creating best management practices, cleaning data, reporting spatial data to the government and administering our ArcGIS online account.

I also create maps for internal use as well as government submissions and assist with harvesting and silviculture tasks as required.

As the operations planner I am responsible for preparing and submitting Forest Harvest Plans, and acquiring required approvals for harvest operations. Receiving the approval entails complying with government submission requirements, consulting with the public, working with other stakeholders, and non-government organizations.Other responsibilities include looking after the layout program and conducting pre-harvest assessments. I provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support for the office and create maps for internal use as well as government submissions.I work closely with the other departments to plan an efficient operation that complies with the Detailed Forest Management Plan as well as Forest Stewardship Council Certification.

As the Silviculture Technician I monitored the reforestation and regeneration programs. I organized the seedling orders and delivery and supervised the planting contract. I was responsible for reporting reforestation activities to the government through the ARIS program.Other duties included supervising the herbicide program, developing site prescriptions for effective reforestation, and supervising the scarification program.
