Media and Communications Advisor to Rebecca Vassarotti, Deputy Leader of the ACT Greens & Minister for Environment, Parks, Land Management, Heritage, Homelessness, Housing Services, Sustainable Building, and ConstructionIn my role as Media and Communications Advisor to Minister Rebecca Vassarotti, I have strategically enhanced her public profile by focusing on a blend of digital innovation and traditional media outreach. A key aspect of my work has been to engage the public in political and bureaucratic processes by leveraging the power of social media, ensuring we meet people where they are.In my role, I have successfully secured a multilingual water safety campaign to reduce deaths in migrant and refugee communities and connected media with public housing tenants to advocate for reduced stigma and better support systems. I initiated a conversation on the importance of promoting women in managerial positions as a strategy to combat climate change and advocated at the federal level to end environmental offsets. Additionally, I led the launch of one of the most significant media campaigns for the ACT Greens, focusing on building and buying 10,000 public homes over the next decade—a project that demanded confidentiality, strategic focus, and the creation of extensive communications materials. Throughout my tenure, I doubled Minister Vassarotti’s social media following and developed a comprehensive strategy that now guides the ACT Greens’ digital communications approach.

Media and Communications Advisor to Shane Rattenbury, Leader of the ACT Greens, Attorney General & Minister for Water, Energy and Emissions Reduction, Consumer Affairs, and GamingAs the Media and Communications Advisor to Minister Shane Rattenbury, I managed and promoted some of the most high-profile and high-impact policy areas within the ACT Government. A key achievement in this role was leading the government’s media response to the Board of Inquiry into the Criminal Justice System conducted by Walter Sofronoff KC. This experience has strengthened my ability to swiftly adapt to evolving media landscapes and narratives, maintaining composure while fostering a collaborative approach in high-pressure situations. My role also demanded a broad political acumen to effectively address inquiries directed towards Minister Rattenbury in his capacity as Leader of the ACT Greens.

In this role, I was the Digital Communications Coordinator within the Communications, Advocacy and Engagement team at YWCA Canberra.In the role, my responsibilities included: - Coordinating, managing and growing the organisation’s digital communication channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, blogs and EDMs;- Assisting in the development of strategic plans and tactics to support the growth of the organisation’s digital channels;- Developing targeted and effective content to support the promotion of YWCA Canberra’s events, activities and services through digital communications;- Assisting in the lead of content development for YWCA Canberra’s communication channels and publications;- Creating written messaging, graphic design, photography and video content; and- Providing advice and input to advocacy campaigns.

In this role, I was the Communications Adviser for Andrew Braddock MLA. The portfolios that I advised on include but were not limited to Better Neighbourhoods, Corrections, Democracy, Integrity and Community Engagement, Multicultural Affairs, Police and Emergency Services and Workplace Safety and Industrial Relations.In the Communications Advisor role, I was responsible for:  - Designing graphics for online and print;- Write scripts, film, and edit video content; - Video production/editing/photography; - Identifying opportunities for content; - Scheduling content; - Developing top line messaging;- Developing reactive message;- Website design; and- Any other matters relating to digital communications.

In this role, I was a Policy and Communications Adviser for the ACT Greens. The portfolios that I advised on included but were not limited to Education, Health, Drug Harm Reduction, Business & the Night-time Economy, LGBTIQA+ Affairs, Sport & Recreation, the Elimination of Family & Domestic Violence, Tourism & Events and Young People.In the Policy Adviser role, I was responsible for:  - Writing speeches in all policy areas;- Organising and developing private member’s business motions; - Meetings with stakeholders to discuss policy development; - Understanding and acting in accordance with ACT Legislative Assembly chamber processes; - Managing specific political and policy campaigns;- Analysis of budget papers & formulating lines of questioning around budget appropriations;- Liaising with government drafting offices to design legislation;- Research in all policy areas; and- Any other matters relating to policy work.In the Communications Advisor role, I was responsible for:  - Designing graphics for online and print;- Write scripts, film, and edit video content; - Video production/editing/photography; - Identifying opportunities for content; - Scheduling content; - Developing top line messaging;- Developing reactive message;- Website design; and- Any other matters relating to digital communications.

Jordan was a key campaign coordinator for the successful 2020 ACT Greens election campaign. In this campaign, his roles included but were not limited to; - diary & email management;- volunteer coordination & training;- voter contact & engagement;- resource management & procurement; and- specialist video & graphic design work

In this role, Jordan was managing a team ranging from small to large, through the day to day workings of the business environment. The age range of the team was between 14 and 60 and required an adaptive approach to management to ensure all felt included. It required an understanding of standard operating procedures, positive staff engagement tools, risky situation management, quick problem solving and a comprehension of building safety requirements and procedures. The role also required a continuation of Jordan's prior customer service experience with a greater ability to set a standard for the team he was working with. In my short time assisting at a proxy store, I oversaw the highest customer service satisfaction in the region for Target Australia PTY.

This role required a good customer engagement skill with an ability to leave individuals with a positive store and personal experience.
