I ran my first marketing campaign at age 11. It consisted of knocking on my neighbors’ doors every day pleading with them to buy overpriced chocolate bars until I had sold out to my entire block. Fast forward to the present day and I am now graduating this spring from the University of Montana with a degree in marketing. Throughout my education, I have learned the importance of marketing research, and how to utilize data analytics to expand a business’s digital reach. At the beginning of my junior year, I was offered a marketing internship with a local payment processing company, Big Sky Commerce. The internship turned into a part-time job, and currently, all of our marketing is done in-house. Our main marketing strategies focus on social media, Google advertising, and word-of-mouth. Marketing for a business-to-business company has taught me how to target and embellish specific aspects of our services in order to attract potential clients. Using Google Analytics I was able to increase our company website’s visitor rate by over 50% with a Google ad campaign. Being able to apply the knowledge I learn through my internship to my school courses has allowed me to better understand the interpersonal side of marketing. As a strategic thinker, I choose to solve problems with creative solutions because I believe with every mistake is an opportunity to improve.
