I managed the communications team that supported the ongoing wildfire recovery effort. Our team provided complete communications services internally, while also supporting key external stakeholders and partners with the goal of engaging our residents as we worked towards a community-driven recovery.

Pre-Wildfire:Directed communications for the Community and Protective Services Division (Regional Emergency Services, Municipal Law Enforcement, Community Strategies) including comprehensive media planning for events, programs and issues management. Fort McMurray Wildfire:Lead all communications efforts during the successful evacuation of approximately 88,000 people and received national recognition for crisis communications excellence. Post-evacuation, I continued to lead the Regional Emergency Operations Centre communications through the re-entry period and directed the communications team during the ongoing recovery period.

Initially charged with implementing a sourced communications plan, my position at the Town was in constant evolution. My regular responsibilities included media relations, corporate communications, content generation and publication oversight while long-term responsibilities include the development of a comprehensive communications strategy, acting as the internal project lead for the municipal re-branding strategy and co-project lead on the development of the new municipal website. I also filled the role of community manager of the Town's social media accounts and the Emergency Operations Centre's Public Information Officer. As the Communications Coordinator, I contributed to a wide variety of economic development and marketing initiatives with the goal of aligning messaging and developing consistent, progressive protocols while often acting as a liaison between management and staff to assist with change management and cultural development.
