As a software engineer within the Cooperative Autonomy team of the Intelligent Vehicles group, I lead technical software development across multiple innovative projects. My role is focused on advancing the capabilities of autonomous systems, with an emphasis on practical, high-impact applications.Key projects & achievements:• Designed and built a custom simulation environment, modelled after a real mobile robot. This platform enabled rapid testing and development of autonomous software systems.• Investigated and tested various autonomous navigation and path planning solutions, fine-tuning the system to achieve optimal performance.• Developed and implemented a dynamic and robust path planning algorithm specifically designed for autonomous trailer towing.• Integrated the developed software onto a robotic platform, bridging the gap between simulation and physical deployment.• Conducted on-road autonomous vehicle trials, collecting and analysing data to assess key metrics such as safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort. Identifying major pain points with current autonomous systems compared to manual driving, and highlighting how cooperative technology, such as infrastructure sensing, can drive substantial improvements in self driving vehicles.
