My name is Jordon Scott and I'm a life-long automotive, motorcycle, and bicycle enthusiast. I grew up riding dirt bikes in the Southern California high desert, watching all kinds of motorsports, and going to AMA Supercross and Motocross events with my dad, where I learned to appreciate all flavors of automotive enthusiasm.I've always been mechanically inclined, and try to do all the maintenance and repairs for my vehicles myself. I have some background in mechanical engineering, and worked short stints in point-of-purchase display manufacturing, and residential civil and structural engineering. After a long career in food service, I found myself at MotorTrend Group where I worked my way into a Staff Editor position at HOT ROD Magazine.Now, I'm a free agent, ready to help you create enthusiast driven content of all kinds. I began my time at MotorTrend Group (MTG) in the production department as a web production editor. My responsibilities included publishing daily and weekly newsletters, publishing articles to MotorTrend.com and other MTG domains, photo editing, and most importantly, employing search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to MTG editorial content with the goal of increasing web traffic. From September 2015 to July 2016, I worked under Sean Holman with the Truck and Off-road group, but a cross-country move forced me to leave MTG for a year. It's funny to think now that they did not allow web production editors to work remotely then. In October 2017, after moving back to Southern California, I returned to MTG, this time in the HOT ROD Network under Doug Glad, and still as a production editor.An internal restructuring in 2019 meant the opportunity to move up to a management position in the production department was no longer available (a goal I had steadily been working towards), but I was still motivated to find a new path for growth at MotorTrend. I began volunteering to write editorial support for the MotorTrend+ streaming service, articles that were more than just marketing copy and a call to action, but essays about car culture that were real features in their own right.A year of volunteering to write editorial support for MotorTrend+ and other marketing initiatives, and continuing the stellar work I was doing as web production editor paid off. In 2021 I was awarded a dream opportunity—Associate Online Editor for the HOT ROD Network. After long-hauling my first HOT ROD Power Tour and surviving my first HOT ROD Drag Week, I was promoted (in title only) to Staff Editor at HOT ROD Magazine. As a Staff Editor (and in my previous title) I photographed and wrote about MTG owned and operated events, as well as third-party events, wrote features, and continued writing editorial support for MotorTrend+ and marketing initiatives, until amicably parting ways in March 2023.
