I worked with this company from when I was 16 through school and university, until leaving to pursue my Ph.D. at 23. I worked at various venues in Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, fulfilling numerous roles in bars, restaurants, and hotels. I ended my time with this company as a floor supervisor.

I undertook a 10 week Research Exchange for Undergraduates program run by the ACS as an international visitor, at the chemistry department at Texas A&M University (TAMU).I worked on a project titled "Adsorption Studies and Immobilisation of Metal Complexes on Supports: Solid-State NMR and Catalysis", under the supervision of Prof. Janet Bluemel. The project allowed me to develop my lab skills outside of the typical teaching lab environment, as well as learn about advanced analytical techniques like solid-state NMR.At the conclusion of this program I had to produce a poster of my research for an undergraduate symposium, as well as give a presentation of my work to the other members of the program, graduate students and faculty of the chemistry department at TAMU. In addition to this I was interviewed for two different articles for the Department of Science News website. One reported the stories of students participating in summer programs and their importance to students skills development outside the classroom, and the other exclusively about my experience and and future ambitions.
