I advised on flood and coastal Revenue & Capital Programmes for Cumbria and Lancashire at the Environment Agency. Coming from a Computer Science background I was able to identify technological risks to the programmes. I managed large amounts of data and information which I then analysed and used to help make stronger decisions on delivering flood risk management outcomes for the area, to better protect people from flooding and Climate Change.I lead on the area FCRM refresh and pipeline development bid in the 2018/2019 year. I regularly chaired the Revenue Review Group and the Capital Review Group, whilst attending the Area Portfolio Board, presenting data in the form of dashboards and infographics.During this time I was able to learn a lot about asset maintenance and programme management.

I was a temp worker on behalf of Brookstreet working at the Environment Agency. My role was to help migrate data to the new system AIMS Planning. I helped the advisors with the area maintenance bid via AIMS Planning whilst also creating guidance documents for users to help train field team members. Using my computer science expertise I was able to create a more efficient workflow in area via tools created in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS 9.3, and AIMS Inventory. I also worked as a Mapping and Visualisation Officer during incidents.

This was a role which I undertook alongside my final year of study at University. I worked in a food production factory in a freezer with temperatures of below -30 degrees Celsius. My primary role was to work as a dock operative which involves data entry through the use of SAP and Microsoft Excel. All outgoing material required correct documentation and sent to the correct areas whilst being recorded in databases. This role also requires the use of VNC to change the scanners remotely between each task.I also worked on Hazards and Critical Control Points when creating food sauces, to prevent any foreign bodies. This involved following pre defined recipes as well as temperature control of large vats of produce.
