The mission of the Impact Manager is to lead and develop a team of 8-12 City Year AmeriCorps members to implement the Whole School, Whole Child program at a systemically under-resourced Kansas City public school. The Impact Manager position is primarily based at the partner school, in order to oversee the day-to-day implementation of the program. Reporting directly to the Impact Director, the Impact Manager's role is focused on coaching their team to support off-track students and strengthen the partner school, while also developing their AmeriCorps members’ leadership skills. Effectively develop talent from within the corps for City Year and the larger education field, and lead AmeriCorps members to have a successful and rewarding year of service through their in-school service and leadership development curriculum. Implement City Year’s Whole School, Whole Child Model. Develop and manage partnerships. Youth civic engagement board with aims to increase the positive interactions and engagement for youth in the City of Kansas City, Missouri. During the tenure of Mayor Sly James we met regularly to plan City wide initiatives and events such as Bright Futures Job fair, Greater Kansas City College fair, etc. We tackled issues of food deserts, city planning, and positive alternatives to detour negative youth encounters in entertainment districts. Along with meeting with the Board, City Manager, and Mayor we would also meet with Council Members. Each member was sponsored by a sitting council member within their residing district. I collaborated, networked, volunteered, and made connections that produced positive turnouts at events. That included utilizing multiple forms of media (print, social, broadcast, and radio).
