Associate Professor in the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Head of Production Engineering Executive Master (MePEP/UNESP). Doctorate in Operation Management (UNESP) awarded by Production Engineering Brazilian Association (ABEPRO), and M.S. with Honor (Operation Management) at Universidade de Sao Paulo (USP). He used to be executive at Ford Motor Company responsible for merge Lean Manufacturing and Quality System. He was Brazilian Visiting Fellow in Birmingham Business School (2017), and researches Knowledge Management, Social Systems in Future Manufacturing (Industry 4.0).

The Unesp-UoB joint research aims to discuss I4.0 implementation impacts on the Brazilian, Chinese and English automotive sector relating factors of Work (which refers to the issues related to human resources), Production (referring to the physical resources used in the production process) and Knowledge (referring to the creation and sharing of knowledge among workers). Studying how different social systems shape the implementation of I4.0 is relevant for industrial sectors from these countries to incorporate this new technology (i.e. automotive, aerospace, footwear). Industry 4.0 technology will impact jobs in Brazil, China and the UK, and will demand new professional skills. It is noteworthy that this research is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations (UN), in particular the SDG-8: ‘Decent work and economic growth’ to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all; and SDG-9: ‘Building Resilient Infrastructures’ to promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation; and SDG-4: 'Quality education’ to ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education, and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. This research proposal aims to contribute to a better social impact of I4.0 with regard to: sustainable organizational practices; formulation of public policies that mitigate social problems; guidance of professional curricula affected by I 4.0, which may establish partnerships between universities and companies. The creation of a multidisciplinary team on Social Systems for Future Manufacturing with researchers from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP, Brazil), University of Birmingham (UoB, UK) and others HIE's, which support the project's multidisciplinary approach. The University of Birmingham has stronger ties with UNESP, and Sao Paulo State is a strategic priority region in the internationalization agenda of the UoB.
