Master in Chemistry, Jorge was Laboratory Manager at the Matosinhos Refinery for 14 years, coordinating a team of 27 people (2020).The Laboratory, with more than 120 accredited analytical methods by the EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard, had a diversified area of activity carrying out tests of fuels and their components, biodiesel, bioethanol, green and mineral diesel, aviation fuel, gasoline, LPG, crude oils, base oils, lubricants, industrial solvents, bitumen, paraffin and residual waters.In the field of R&D, he has developed in recent years, intense activity with several Universities being co-author of 35 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and several books, having more than 1350 citations, mainly in the last 5 years (“h index” = 20), https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=29567543300 .He is a visiting professor in the Doctoral Program in Refining, Petrochemical and Chemical Engineering (EngIQ, https://www.eng-iq.pt ).During 2 years, he was invited member of the Representative Council of the Faculty of Sciences of Porto.Jorge is frequently invited for lectures at universities and to review scientific papers and was recently (2023) invited by the Faculty of Sciences of Porto as a professor of the Quality Management Course in Chemistry Laboratories.In the last decade, he coordinated, representing Galp, 8 doctoral (PhD) thesis and several master's degrees, being a member of jury of 7 PhD theses and arguer in several Master's theses. Jorge has extensive experience in the chemical industry, having represented Galp as an expert on several Technical Committees (eg: biofuels, bitumen, analytical methods). He is currently Innovation Project Manager at Galp Industrial Innovation Center.E-fuels and Advanced Biofuels, Bioproducts Chemistry, Statistics and Process Improvement, Analytical Lab Optimization, are areas of great interest. Jorge is IPAC's technical expert under the EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard.Team Development, Geology, Environmental Science, General Chemistry, Geography, History and Portuguese Literature are other subjects that Jorge really appreciates.
