Software/Hardware Integration

Software development on BOWMAN ComBAT system.Software maintenance on HMS platform.Software design and implementation of the Integrated Waveform (IW) on the Digital Modular Radio (DMR).• Implemented multi-thread algorithms on VxWorks for real-time communication of IW.• Development of network acquisition firmware to interface with an FPGA for signal processing.• Developed overnight Software/Firmware testbench for energy detection testing.• Wrote approximately 10K+ SLOC and reviewed 50K+ SLOC.

Implemented Software-In-Loop and Processor-In-Loop tests with MatLab/SimuLink for a Engine Control Unit (ECU) Model on a single core Renesas V850 board with both CAN bus and serial port protocols.Researched for the development of parallelizable code with MatLab/Simulink Embedded Coder of the ECU model for a dual-core processor.Researched for the development of a real-time scheduler for both the single and dual-core implementation of the ECU.

Conducted finite-element stress analysis of coil winding and identified structurally sound wire material and gauge for the Fault Current Limiter (FCL). Designed and machined a plastic modular magnet housing using SolidWorks.Implemented firmware on TI DSP microcontroller to control a low voltage model of the FCL.Co-authored a research paper that was published to the third IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT) Europe Conference; “A Neodymium Permanent Magnet Fault Current Limiter for Use in the FREEDM Project”.

Work at Sternco consisted of a high paced environment where flexibility and ease for teamwork were required attributes. Used AutoCAD 2010 to draft preliminary and final designs of mechanical and electrical building floor plans. Completed preliminary building energy consumption analysis for Yuma Alexander Ford. Developed and carried out an air quality test for Yuma Medical Regional Health Center. Organized specs, preliminary and final drawings and overall project files. All my work was supervised by professional mechanical and electrical engineers.

At Honeywell I experienced a highly professional work environment were I worked with export controlled information from various countries. I worked for the Global Aftermarket Configuration Management team, Global Business Compliance and Export Control team, and Phoenix Military Repair Development team. All of which required good communication skills, teamwork skills, flexibility to work with multiple teams and consciousness of technology information at a global perspective. The line of work consisted of data management, asset management, and technical support using SAP.
