The system reduced the time to refresh a piece of content on Target's digital properties from over a day down to a few minutes.* Architected and developed an item attribution system, which made use of Elasticsearch to rapidly filter and tag an assortment of over 4 million items with over 5 thousand categories and tags, and surface the data on the site in minutes.* Implemented and pushed forward infrastructure automation by developing software to programmatically provision production servers on a private OpenStack cloud, and led a team of infrastructure engineers in developing Chef cookbooks that set up required services and deploy applications.* Championed software engineering best practices through proper use of Git flow, a continuous integration pipeline using Jenkins, a high level of automated unit testing, and established a strong culture of code reviews and adherence to development best practices.* Engineered a Kubernetes cluster end-to-end, including automated application container builds and deployments, DNS and service discovery, centralized logging collection with Fluentd and Kibana and centralized metrics collection using Grafana. Also worked with the development team to containerize existing applications using Docker, and migrate them to Kubernetes. This effort reduced our server footprint by 50%.
