The Hispanic Genealogical Society of New York is a non-profit, public service and educational organization with a volunteer staff that organizes meetings, projects, instructional forums and seminars. The society is working towards establishing a library and research center in Manhattan to house our collection of books and genealogy documents. Our objectives are:• To encourage Hispanics to research their roots, history and rich heritage • To provide instruction and assistance in genealogical research • To locate and make available genealogical resources for research, • To protect and restore historical documents relating to Hispanics and our history, • To establish a network of Hispanic genealogical libraries and other resources, • To begin the organization of a National Hispanic Genealogical Association, • To encourage Hispanics to spread information about our history and culture, • To lobby for Hispanic collections in libraries.
