Design and implement strategies to position the organization and make visible the benefits of migration. Provide services and advice on communications to all 14 IOM missions in the region, and enforce global communication policies through all levels of the organization in Central America, North America and the Caribbean.

I designed and implemented communication strategies for various social programs funded by the governments of the United States, the European Union, Canada, and Colombia, targeting vulnerable populations and victims of the armed conflict, and raising awareness about the reintegration process of ex-combatants. One of the achievements was the creation of a repository (repository.oim.org.co) that today distributes the publications of all IOM offices in South America.

My responsibilities included designing and implementing the communication strategy and a marketing plan for the acquisition of individual donors for the Office in Colombia of Plan International. I had the opportunity to launch several multichannel marketing campaigns with a digital emphasis. I was also in charge of coordinating bidirectional communications between 15,000 Colombian children and their sponsors in different European and North American countries.

I launched the communications strategy for the IOM Mission in Colombia and supervised communications plans for social projects aimed at displaced and vulnerable populations, prevention of child recruitment, reintegration of former combatants and fight against human trafficking. Tasks included managing social networks, events, editorial production of printed publications and supervising all aspects of the internal and external communication of a humanitarian organization with more than 400 officials and projects worth over 200 million dollars per year. I managed to set up a cooperation agreement with Juanes' (renowned Colombian singer) "Mi Sangre" foundation, resulting in involving Juanes and some of his friends in a campaign to prevent the recruitment of childen and adolescents by illegal armed groups.

Internet was starting to permeate all levels of the Colombian society, and I supported this government program in encouraging agencies around the country to use digital channels to communicate with the citizens. In 2005 we won the "Internet Colombia" prize with our Colombian Government Portal. In 2019 (long after I was gone) Colombia was third in the OECD Digital Government Index (DGI).

CM& was the first Colombian TV news show to broadcast live through Internet, and I was part of it as community manager. A great first contact with online communications, when Internet was still a novelty. I also was TV reporter (again) for the most prestigious journalism company of the country.
