I am a founder of the firm and a director in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group. In addition, I chair the firm's IP and Human Rights Pro Bono Practice. I have almost forty years’ experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. and foreign patent offices, as well as in licensing, and in district court, appellate and PTAB litigation. I am strategic advisor to some of the most important research companies and universities in the world. I was one of the earliest U.S. practitioners of biotechnology patent law. My lifelong efforts led me to write the book U.S. Biotechnology Patent Law, first published in 2016, with its third updated edition coming out in 2018. The book guides readers to understanding case law dealing with patents in biotechnology.
