La Unidad Latina equips high-achieving men from underrepresented communities to realize their full potential and make a difference in their community through leadership, brotherhood, educational excellence, and community service. From Spring 2019 to Spring 2020, I served as the only active member on campus, constructing a vision to increase the membership of the chapter and continuing our national philanthropy — the PATHE (Providing Access to Higher Education) Initiative. I collaborated with other Latinx greek organizations to host events like, 𝘓𝘢 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘌𝘴 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦, where 3rd-grade elementary school students from Oakland were able to visit UC Berkeley and experience being in college for a day. I also hosted both Pasadena City College and Long Beach City College students with campus tours and workshops around the UC Berkeley transfer experience. I continued our chapter’s annual campus-wide event, the Work-Study Hiring Fair, where I planned and executed a space where 40+ work-study employers could recruit work-study students. In the course of a year, I helped the chapter grow from 1 to 10 members.
