Cochlear Technology Center Belgium

Within this role, I build and lead the implant development team at Cochlear Technology Centre in Belgium and establish strong relationships with corresponding departments at different sites and with internal/external stakeholdersI ensure active implantable medical device development projects deliver components and products that meet the user requirements and regulatory standards, are on time and within budget.Moreover, I set strategic direction, coordinate implementation of technology for acoustic implantable components, and develop plans for intellectual property.Finally, I represent the implant development team in the management team of Cochlear Technology Centre and contribute to the development of medium and long-term development plans aligned with Cochlear’s global strategy.

Cochlear Technology Center Belgium

In this double role, I manage and support acoustic implant (class III) development projects within schedule and budget and in compliance with the applicable international standards and our internal quality management system, support the regulatory submission processes to notified bodies. I am responsible for setting strategic direction, coordinating implementation of technology development for acoustic implantable transducers, and developing plans for IP within the implantable transducer space. I manage a small team responsible for the development of know-how, new technologies and implantable components/products.

Cochlear Technology Center Belgium

I'm responsible for supporting technology development activities in the field of active implantable medical devices, specifically acoustic hearing implants. I model new generations of transducers and validate those prototypes on the bench, in vitro and in vivo. I ensure that Cochlear is kept abrest the latest technology developments in the domain of acoustic implants.

During my PhD thesis, entitled 'Biomechanical analysis of total intervertebral disc prostheses', I applied to answer important clinical and mechanical questions regarding cervical disc prostheses through a close collaboration between engineering, medicine and industry. This PhD thesis was supported by an institutional education and research grant by Medtronic (Memphis, USA).
