Jorn Behage is an entrepreneur with a strong vision on energy-, CO2 and material reduction whose work is considered to be at the very apex of creating a significant change in the field of sustainable product development.Inspired by the logic of nature and the deep understanding of the necessity to preserve natural resources, his design possesses a unity between technology, materials science and intelligent design. A deeply human and resourceful approach is always embedded in his designs, which express optimism and innovative vitality in everything he touches. From building materials to furniture, luminaries, children products, fragrance, cars and agriculture his projects has shown a deep understanding of product development.Born in 1961, he is graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1990 at the department of Industrial design. In the early 90’s he worked as a designer for KIEM product development support, in the Netherlands, on projects such as interior parts for Volvo Car, bio-composites applications for UNDP (India and Indonesia), applications of biopolymers in the agricultural industry, fragrance bottles for Coscentra, children furniture for Live & Play and Greentom, among many others.Winner of international awards his work has been published and exhibited in museums such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Design Center Stuttgart (D), Museum for Contemporary Art De Beyerd, Breda (NL), Museum of Decorative Arts, Ghent (B), the Thessaloniki Design Museum, Greece, the Beijing Industrial Design Center, China, the BCD Barcelona Design Centre, Spain and the Design Museum CUBE in Kerkrade (NL). His work is held in the permanent collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Moving to Maastricht (NL) in 2016 he is working currently at ARAPAHA BV in Maastricht on the development of fully circular bio-based products.
