Working on the Syria team and responsible for Norwegian humanitarian aid to Lebanon.

As president of SAIH, I was responsible for communicating and implementing the organization's mission and policies. With the support from more than 160 000 students and academics, and an annual budget of NOK 42 million, we were able to strengthen more than 40 organisations and institutions promoting academic freedom, higher education, research and human rights in southern Africa and Latin-America.The organization is well-known for its' political advocacy work, and as president I worked extensively to convince the Norwegian government to champion the Safe Schools Declaration (which they did in 2015), for the Government Pension Fund Global to adopt an ownership strategy for Human Rights (implemented in 2016), and establishing the Students at Risk (StAR) programme (still running today). In order to achieve our goals, we sparked public debate and I had a number of media appearances in both Norwegian (e.g. Dagsnytt 18, NRK Ekko, Aftenposten, Dagbladet, Klassekampen) and international (e.g. The Guardian, BBC Newsnight, BBC Radio) news outlets.

After finishing boot camp at KNM Harald Haarfagre, and two months of medical training at Sessvollmoen, I served as a medic on the icebreaker KV Svalbard with a crew of 80 people. Besides being a doctor's assistant I was responsible for first aid training, hospital logistics and medical supplies.
