Lead investigator of a project that aims to end impunity for crimes committed against journalists

As a PhD candidate I am currently involved in an ERC funded project that investigates the changes in both the nature and the sustainability of authoritarian rule in relation to the erosion of decision-making autonomy at the state level posited by globalisation theorists. While concepts like democracy and authoritarianism have been conventionally measured on the state (federal) level, it has become visible in the 21st century that authoritarian regimes can reside within democratic nation states and thereby threaten the democratic citizenship of their people. For this reason the main question of my individual research is: How to understand the phenomenon of subnational authoritarianism in its engagement with the democratic state and the wider world in relation to information and communication, association, and people movement? In order to approach this question, large-N data will be combined with fieldwork studies in India and Mexico.

As a supervisor of the commercial team of Spring Real estate, I coached and supervisor a team of 9 people on a daily basis, together with my co-supervisor. The main objective of the team was to increase the market share of the firm by uncovering the Dutch commercial letting market and by using this information in order to tap into new commercial reservoirs. In order to set up a team that was able to achieve this in the most efficient manner, I coached the employees on a daily basis, evaluated their work, interviewed new potential emplyees, and facilitated monthly trainings.
