As a “spider in the web” for system development, I am talking to stakeholders to understand their needs and get requirements clear. I am leading the design team that takes care of mechanical, electrical and safety design of large setups that enable state-of the art technology development. Contact with suppliers, assisting with planning and budgets are also part of this role.

I am part of the team that translates the research roadmap into suitable setups. My tasks were designing the electrical infrastructure, safety system, hardware-software interface, as well as LabVIEW programming, integration and testing. The challenge was to combine sensors, actuators, vacuum and gas systems into a powerful measurement tool which can be operated by an integrated software application.

Solving technical problems arising during the production of the EUV scanner, as well as during its installation at a customer site. This included electronics, software, and optics. The systems I focused on were interferometers, wavefront sensors, triangulation sensors and other measurement systems. In addition, I worked on long-term improvements of the product and internal processes.

I am supervising and coaching a team of five applications engineers in the Netherlands and Belgium. My technical experience and insight in our customer’s needs give me the right background to stimulate the development of new engineers.

I assisted customers with technical challenges during system development with National Instruments products. I also gave training about hard- and software. The systems I worked on ranged from data acquisition and test to embedded control and monitoring.

I temporarily worked as a Field Sales Engineer in Norway for five months, replacing a colleague on paternity leave. I was the account manager for National Instruments' customers and partners in the Southern and most Northern part of Norway. Experience gained during my job as Applications Engineer allowed me to have a strong focus on customer success, by providing the right tools and knowledge and by bringing together the right partners.

Improving X-ray fluorescence analysis of animal feeds and other materials with a large amount of organic matrix.

Investigating the optical properties of peptide nanotubes and aligning the tubes during the self-assembly process. Properties of interest: second harmonic generation, waveguiding, fluorescence. Research group led by Theo Rasing at IMM, Radboud University Nijmegen.

Guiding and students during experiments and evaluating their reports for a 2nd year Physics course. Topics like relative electron mass, the Hall effect, the mobility of electrons and holes in semiconductors, liquid crystal displays.

Teaching sports to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year VMBO students (secondary school).
