Currently as a Maintenance Team Leader I’m responsible for structure, development and execution of the offshore maintenance 2 week plan, and manage offshore maintenance DTC’s (Discipline Training Coach) to deliver competent offshore maintenance function via a competence assurance system (CMAS), as well as train, coach and develop the Maintenance Supervisors (Mechanical, Electrical and Instrument) to maximise potential which impact on the daily production.One of my important responsibilities is the prioritisation of the work, based on equipment criticality, this is derived from the condition monitoring process, and I have to take the equipment out of service for maintenance and repairs which impacts the daily production targets for the year.As part of safety I identify, assess and mitigate hazards related to personal and process, that present a risk on-board of the FPSO, indicate the areas of concerns to the Maintenance Supervisors, and Area Authority. I also ensure utilisation and document control of maintenance procedures drawing and technical information, red line any deviation or anomalies on the documents and discuss with the document and control department to update the relevant changes into the database.

My development progression and promotion to Mechanical Supervisor has increased my knowledge on the ‘Floating Production Storage and Offloading’ (FPSO) vessel process operation. As a Mechanical Supervisor I was resposable for planning organization and execution of mechanical section of offshore 2 week maintenance plan as well as input into continuous improving of the maintenance procedures ans strategies

Completed the Mechanics Chemical Fitting NQF Level 4 and worked as a mechanical technician for 2 years at BP Angola Greater Plutonio. During this time I enhanced my knowledge on Rolls Royce RB211 Turbines, working directly with the OEM Field Engineer. This involved planned maintenance, water washes, troubleshooting, repairs and engine change-outs. To further expand my knowledge I researched the RB211 engine manuals, control system & engineering books to fully understand all aspects of the turbines whilst being supported by the field engineer. I later undertook a course on RB211 gas turbines, so I could apply knowledge in the workplace and develop my team. I have also enhanced my knowledge on Centrifugal Pumps, Gas Compressors, Control of Work and SIRPs (Safety Isolation and Reinstatement of the Plant), Maintenance Database (Maximo), Piping Specifications, Flange torque and hydraulic tightening and safety protective devices

Undertook mechanics Chemical Fitting at Sapref South Africa Refinary during this time I gained pratical experience on Petrochemical industry in both training center and field exposure, which include all aspects of refinery maintenance, being the most noticed activities, removal overhauling faulty finding and commissioning of centrifugal pumps and reciprocating compressor, repair pressure test and comissioning of shell and tube heat exchangers, faulty finding and maintenance of hydraulic system, and removing overhauling and maintenance of power transmission.

Worked at ASCORP (Angola Selling Corporation) for 3 years. Whilst there I acquired knowledge in troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of Diesel Engines (Perkins, Lister Petter, Caterpillar, Deutz, Kholer, Toyota, Hilux L3, L4 and Land Cruiser HZJ 75, 100, 101). Maintenance and repairs, of hydraulic and pneumatic power tools including Bobcat, Bulldozers and Pneumatic Hammers, as well as maintenance of portable air compressor. My previous knowledge as Electrical Field Service had a significant impact on this transition, since I used to work in an Electrical and Mechanical team. I increased my mechanical maintenance knowledge by further studies in thermodynamics. Later I undertook and successfully completed a troubleshooting and repair course for Toyota, Hilux L3, L4 and Land Cruiser HZJ 75, 100, 101).

After completion of the Intermediate Electrical Course I Worked at Ingersoll Rand for 2 years. Whilst there I acquired knowledge on installation, maintenance and repair of high and low voltage power generators, fault finding, repairs and re-wiring of power generation electrical alternators, Installation, troubleshooting, and technical assistance of ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) for power generators. My school knowledge helped me to strengthen the maintenance aspects of the work, which included consultation of the vendor manuals and then applying that higher level knowledge in discussions with senior engineers in the organisation. This research and application of knowledge in the workplace has resulted in a deepening and a broadening of my technical knowledge and skill.
