Although most of my educational background is chemistry, I have obtained transferable skills that I will be able to use in diverse positions within many fields such as my statistical, analytical, and abstract thinking skills. I came to the realization that my interest and skill lay within more than just the science field because I enjoy the new tasks and challenges that arise, the type of work environment that offers new learning opportunities, and a chance to provide high customer satisfaction. An example of my work experience that shows my interests and skills is through my current position as a bank manager. I began working as a bank teller and quickly learned how to solve problems while providing the best possible service to a diverse population. I would take initiative in learning different operations of the bank not required within my position, solved my own questions, and step in to help my co-workers when they felt overwhelmed or needed extra assistance. By building connections with my customers and providing efficient services and solutions, not only did I meet the bank’s product goals, but I helped sustain customer loyalty and expand the clientele base. My supervisors began to take notice my willingness to learn, attention to detail, and leadership skills and within a year I was promoted to a bank manager position. My strong work ethic has allowed me to excel in this position as well as learn new skills such as multi-tasking during high pressured situations while guiding my co-workers and maintaining a productive work environment.
