Manage the overall business functions, cultural programming, and diversity training of the Office of Institutional and Diversity and Equity. Responsible for co-managing the Affirmative Action Plan to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Developed content and facilitate sessions for the BUILD Diversity Certificate program including, anti-racism, microaggressions, undocumented student ally-ship, hiring a diverse workforce, and four generations in the workforce. The administrative duties include: providing university-wide training and programming related to diversity initiatives and policies, managing the operational activities of the office, including budgeting, and supervision and coaching of team members. Works with diverse internal and external constituent groups.

Administered the BUILD diversity certificate program, Diversity Advocates, and the President’s Signature Series of diversity lectures and events, and chair the President’s Diversity Council. Responsible for the daily operational activities including supervision, budget management, community engagement, cultural programming, administrative functions, advancement of strategic goals, and assist with the development of the Affirmative Action Plan.

The Urban Health Program (UHP), has the mission of increasing the number of underrepresented students in the Health Sciences. Led the Graduate College UHP in the goal of increasing the number of underrepresented graduate students conducting research related to the Health Sciences. This includes many MA, MS, and PhD programs offered through the College of Applied Health Sciences, College of Dentistry, College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and the School of Public Health.

Responsible for supervision of six staff members and five research team leaders including a McNair Scholars Program Director. Assisted with the general administration of the Graduate College. Member of executive team responsible for development of policies and procedures and components of our equity plans. Managed a budget that was allocated to research programs, recruitment, fellowship, and pathway programs. Co-developed and raised funds for the African American and Latino Dialogue and Research Forums now in its seventh year. Organized a highly successful regional screening and faculty panel presentation of the film Shattering the Silences. Coordinated the annual Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in Illinois Program Conference for more than two hundred Fellows and guests. Conducted, transcribed, and coded, interviews for immigration research project, reviewed literature, co-authored chapter in upcoming book. Co-directed a project that resulted in a documentary that highlights the contributions of African Americans and Latinos to higher education community in Illinois. Designed promotional materials including a diversity brochure used for graduate recruitment. Assisted with development of Web site, listservs, and social media presence. Taught a Latin American Latino Studies class.

Directed a successful program that introduced domestic underrepresented sophomores and juniors to academic research experiences. The number of participants ranged from fifty to seventy-two. Supervised staff and graduate students.
