Serves as the Supervisory Chaplain professional providing comprehensive, religious ministry services to Veteran patients according to their specific needs and desires. Provides thorough guidance and advice to Chaplain Service management staff, other Chaplains, and other stakeholders.Manages and supervises the full spectrum of chaplaincy service operations. Supervises non-supervisory and supervisory professional staff at the GS-12 level or below.Manages a moderately complex to very complex chaplain service program with skillful chaplains working in (Hospice and Palliative Care, Suicide Prevention, Mental Health Residential and Outpatient programs, Substance Use Disorder Clinics, Cancer Treatment Clinics, Women's Health Clinics, Spinal Cord Injury Clinics, etc. Performs supervisory and non-supervisory assignments consisting of significant scope, complexity, difficulty, and variety. Supervises the professional practice of all facility chaplains and provides chaplaincy services and programming.Manages and oversees all religious and spiritual care and provides counsel to facility leadership concerning religious expression. Develops local policy, productivity, and clinical practice standards.Oversees a chaplaincy program at this level is carefully integrated throughout the total care and treatment program to further the mission of the VHA facility. Oversees pastoral ministry, including intensive pastoral counseling, close integral working relationships with other staff disciplines, and active community liaison.Serves as an active participant and a key administrative staff member of the organization with VHA's leadership.Provides supervision with full responsibility for assignment of work, performance evaluations, selection of staff, recommendation of awards, advancements, and disciplinary actions.Provides consultation to facility leadership, managers, and other staff on all religious expression and spiritual care.

Providing a pastoral ministry to patients of various faith groups through initial visits to newly admitted patients, conscientious attention to the spiritual needs of patients in crisis situations, and regular pastoral care of hospitalized veterans.Addressing religious, spiritual, moral and ethical problems of the patient, providing adequate ministrations to the newly admitted, pre- and post-operative patients, the critically iii and the families concerned.Participating in the total care program of the hospital with other professional and non-professional individuals and services.Interpreting the purpose and mission of the hospital, as appropriate, to the religious and civic community.Understanding and is able to respond to the particular concerns and issues pertaining to the treatment of Veterans.Providing guidance and religious instruction, as appropriate, to individuals or groups.Arranging and conducts regular weekly religious worship services and, when required, provides "ward services" for those unable to attend stated chapel services.Devoting time to the pastoral counseling of individual patients, looking to the solution of personal problems. Providing necessary attention to the needs of relatives of patients, especially at times of crisis.Participates as appropriate, in the consideration of patients' problems with other professional and non-professional personnel in the hospital and maintains a cooperative relationship with these allied services in the interest of patient care.Maintaining a cooperative relationship with individuals and groups in the community to win assistance in the religious program of the hospital, as well as to gain acceptance of the mission of the total hospital program.Documenting patient assessments, treatment, and ministry in paper and/or electronic records systems as assigned.Performing call-backs, funerals and other duties as assigned.

Manage State Veterans Program ensuring eligible underemployed and unemployed veterans receive assistance and support towards obtaining employment goals. Provide leadership to veterans staff which includes account executive and veteran employment representatives covering twenty four Ohio counties. Provide job coaching, evaluations, administer labor agreement and promote staff development. Ensure staff efficiency and productivity through observation, mentoring, and monitoring reports. Ensure that all departments are adequately staffed in providing services to military veterans and eligible family members. Conducts staff training on federal, state and local policies, procedures and programs designed to build, enhance and sustain quality of life issues for the veteran population.
