I am " The American Dream"I was born in Havana Cuba. Came to the United States in 1980 at the age of 14 during the Mariel Boat Lift onboard a boat called the” Punkin Dream”. I am the son of a Cuban political prisoner who risked his freedom to voice his views about the Cuban government. I spent my first few months in the United States living under the bleachers of the old Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida while my family was being processed. At the age of 15, I landed my first job at Long’s Office Supply while I was trying to learn English. Within a year, I was promoted to Warehouse manager by the age of 16. I worked there until they closed their doors in 1992. I moved to Ocala in 1993 after Hurricane Andrew. I began working at Champs Sports in Ocala and quickly moved from sales associate to store manager. I then became a Manager Trainer for the Southeast district until I left the company in 2003. That is when I started in car business at Main Street Chevrolet on Gainesville, Florida. I quickly looked for a new and innovative way to sell cars, the internet. Internet car sales was not done yet. It was uncharted and untrusted territory. In the beginning, I worked every morning taking my own pictures of our inventory, uploading and listing them manually. Everyone thought I was crazy and people would never put their personal information online. I never gave up and slowly Internet car sales evolved into the “normal” way to research and buy a car. I have established Internet departments and eventually BDC departments in every dealership I have worked for from single stores to multiple rooftop groups. I have also advised many other dealerships how to start their own and capitalize on every lead. I have received many awards and been recognized by and featured in “Digital Dealer” and other publications. All of this has brought me to where I am today. I am truly living the American Dream.
