Design and Architecture for the solutions engineering group focusing on implementing PayPal features and products for regions around the world.Lead the team to design and implement a Product configuration engine used across our payment services. Built a tree base UI based on React.js and JS that allowed users to structure and maintain complex configuration data. By using this product our engineers were able to decommission complete applications and save thousands of hours of development time by being able to release complex configuration changes to expand and launch new business products in real-time.Re-imagined our product configuration engine into it's next generation version. This edition learned from the usage and shortfalls of it's predecessor to introduce object oriented configurations and dynamic contextual overrides. I came up with this new model which is now patented: US11593101 and led the design and implementation. This new version included a brand new React.js based UI and client SDK. This version expanded beyond our payments stack and was use in services across the enterprise. I played many roles in the team, from product, architect, and managing the team.Led the technical team to design and implement yet another configuration engine. This time merging our product configuration suite with our legacy application properties management system. In this iteration we took the complex and non-readable and database stored configurations of the previous iterations into file based configurations. Envisioned and implemented a new DSL language that we call CoCo (Common Configuration) that was built to support our complex production configurations with the addition of our simpler properties file. Designed and built a new modular next generation client SDK that was designed with a plugabble architecture and native cloud support. Mentored and guided the team to a successful migration into this next gen system.

At Mineful I was in charge of the overall technology direction of the company and product. I designed the product to be easily scalable both on the front and back ends. The product grew to handle the data of over 2.5M customers and 3.5M transactions and managed a team of both onshore and offshore developers. We raised a seed round after being selected into the Tech Wildcatters startup program. Some highlights of my work include:• Design and implemented a system of connectors into different shopping cart engines to automatically import customers, orders, and products into Mineful. This component saved our clients tons of time and allowed Mineful to trigger messages as new orders came in without needing any intervention from our users. • Implemented a quartz scheduler based component that would constantly spawn jobs to analyze our customer’s data and trigger email messages based on certain rules. • Designed and implemented a Seam/JSF front end for our users to configure rules/triggers based on a wide variety of conditions, from product purchased to last purchase date. This rules engine allowed our users to target and segment their customers with precision and increased the conversion rate and their ROI.• Implemented a simple email template system to allow our users to create targeted emails to increase conversions.• Designed and implemented a public REST API that allowed larger retailers and other application developers to integrate with Mineful and gain access to our powerful rules engine and messaging system. This allowed them to engage with their users in an automated way when certain events were performed inside the application.

For the Lingraph Order System I designed and developed a shopping cart and e-commerce platform to be used by a print shop in order to connect partners and customers with the manufacturer. This system allowed the printer to offer customizable products over the web where the customers could see how the product would look in real-time. Some highlights of my work include:• Implemented an interface that would collect orders stored in zip files and processed them in order to show them online. Then I created SOAP API along with a remote client to download this data into a database at the printing facility. This converted a manual and labor intensive job into a fully automated hands-off process. Saving the client time and money by limiting data entry mistakes.• Implemented a real-time customizable order preview widget that updated in real-time to show how the final product would look like. This reduced processing time and allowed the printer to reduce returns and increase customer satisfaction.• Implemented a public store component that allowed the printer and his partners to launch an unlimited number of online stores to sell different products online.

At HCSC (owner of many Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans) I started as a senior developer and grew to an architect role as well as a development manager. I quickly proved my value to the team and became a key member of their IT staff. My claim to fame is that when I moved from development into the architecture group, they created a team of 4 to take over my duties. Some highlights of my work include:• Was a development manager of a team of 8 developers responsible for the applications that managed claim and message routing between health plans, 3rd party vendors, and between mainframe and open systems.• Performed the high level design for a provider ID lookup application and guided the development team through the implementation.• Design and implemented a nightly batch process that managed daily data management routines for the claims pricing system.• Handled a lot of performance monitoring and tuning of different applications in the company.• Created a web application used to monitor the different servers and applications running the claims pricing system. This allowed management and development staff to see the status of the applications as well as access logs and execute commands back into the servers.• Designed and develop business rules for the claims pricing application using ILOG JRules.

I was a Java software engineer at Stellent working on file conversion technology that converted 225 different file types into an XML format. Some highlights of my work include: • Developed internal tool to automatically generate JAVA classes, HTML documentation, and an XML Schema.• Designed and coded JAVA GUIs for testing and demo applications that were shipped as part of our SDK application for customers to see and understand how the program worked.• Developed a web application used by prospective customers to demonstrate the different conversion SDKs that the company offered and how they would look in a mobile device. Without this application customers would have to implement the solution if they wanted to see how the product looked, so this helped the company reduce the lead time to sign customers.
