SentiSquare develops a service for marketing or customer experience managers, who struggle to interpret large volumes of text into clear, actionable insights. Unlike superficial text monitoring, for which the user must define what they are looking for in advance, SentiSquare is an unsupervised state-of-the-art system for opinion discovery that provides unbiased and unrestricted insight into reality. It uses deep semantics to produce a structured summary of input texts and provides competitive, temporal and geographical comparisons of discussed topics and sentiment.As a spiritual father of the company (I didn't invent that term ;-) ) I'm connecting the development and business teams.

After finishing a postdoc at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, I moved back in 2012 to continue career as a lecturer, and since 2013 as an associate professor, at the University of West Bohemia. I'm interested in media monitoring and analysis, from news to social media, including techniques for news clustering and categorisation, story tracking, information extraction, named entity recognition, quote recognition, information visualisation. The research topics of particular interest encompass automatic text summarisation, sentiment analysis and coreference resolution. As a show case for these technologies I develop MediaGist (http://mediagist.eu) as part of my Marie Curie project.I'm involved in organizing multilingual summarisation workshops: Multiling 2011 (TAC, NIST, Gaithersburg, US), Multiling 2013 (ACL, Sofia, Bulgaria), Multiling 2015 (SigDial, Prague, Czech Republic).

At JRC I worked on the Europe Media Monitor family of applications. Building media monitoring solutions extended my topics of interest, like news clustering and categorisation, story tracking, information extraction, event extraction, named entity recognition, quote recognition, or information visualisation. To achieve high multilinguality the aim is to limit dependency on a particular language or building multilingual resources.

Since 2003 I've been teaching at the Department of computer science and engineering, Facuty of applied sciences. In 2006, I moved fulltime and in 2007 I defended PhD on using latent semantics for text summarization.
