I am an educator and leader with 13 years of work experience in teaching, coaching, and school administration. I have a master's degree in educational administration, curriculum, and supervision, and I hold three NYS teaching certifications in childhood inclusive education, students with disabilities, and school building leadership. I am passionate about providing quality education and creating a positive school culture for students and staff.Currently, I am a teacher, coach, and summer school assistant principal at Lyndonville Central School District, a high-performing rural school district in Western New York. I have taught multiple subjects across different grade levels, from ELA and writing to science and social studies. I have also coached soccer at multiple levels. As part of a building team, I have contributed to eliminating the achievement gap and improving student achievement in ELA and math in the last two years. I have also planned and implemented engaging and rigorous lessons aligned to NYS standards and district demands, as well as modified and adapted district selected curriculum to meet the diverse needs of my students. Additionally, I have led the preparation for the NYS Grade 5 Science Exam and Science Investigations, a hands-on inquiry-based learning program. As a summer school assistant principal, I have supported the principal with various leadership tasks, such as scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and discipline. My mission is to empower students to reach their full potential and to inspire staff to grow professionally and personally.

Adult Education Instructor/Career CounselorOrleans/Niagara Boces Jan 2011 - Jun 2016Buffalo/Niagara, New York AreaI began volunteering at O/N BOCES shortly after I graduated from SUNY GCC, in January of 2011. After 6 weeks of volunteering, I was hired as a Teacher Aid. Not long thereafter, I had the privilege of traveling all over Orleans and Niagara Counties to teach G.E.D., Digital Literacy, and Job Readiness Training classes to adult students who range in both age, ethnicity, learning style, and grade level. I loved it. I loved every second of the job. I personally believe that people do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care about them and their future. My role at BOCES allowed me to serve a wide range of unique individuals in helping them take the next step in life. I have written hundreds of resumes and cover letters. I have helped many people get jobs, enter training, pass the GED/TASC exam, continue their education, and more! It's an honor to serve and that's what teaching is. Teaching is a sacred profession that requires service and sacrifice from the teacher on behalf of the students. I love it. I also love coaching! Tasks:Planning and Teaching all subjects on the GED/T.A.S.C. exam: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies for grades 1-12 depending on class size and makeupDifferentiated instruction and individual lesson planning as neededCurriculum writing to a small degreeCollaborating with teachers and other professionals to instruct, asses, and recordInform, and educate others on available community services as a resource investigatorProvided career counseling to culturally diverse, and/or disadvantaged populations -
Avid TutorNewfane Central School District Jan 2013 - May 2013Newfane Middle SchoolLate in the fall semester of 2012, I received a phone call from my Placement Coordinator at SUNY Brockport. My Coordinator called me to ask if I would be willing to travel 50 minutes to Newfane CSD for my observational learning placement during the following spring semester. I was hesitant to confirm my appointment to Newfane, due to the long drive and the blustery, arctic winter conditions of Western New York. After learning that Newfane was in dire need of help at the school, and that I was the only Brockport student living within a reasonable proximity of the school, I accepted the placement knowing that I was needed! It was an honor to brave the snow and ice to serve the hearty citizenry and students of Newfane. During my time there, I rotated around Newfane's Special Education Teachers, teaching and tutoring in their classrooms of grades 5-8. I also tutored 5-8th grade students in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) As an overview, the AVID program is designed for students who are struggling academically but who show potential to succeed. I personally believe in AVID because it is a high accountability, mentoring and coaching program which puts very high expectations on students and then holds them to those expectations. The program will only be successful if it is directed by someone who has rapport with the students, someone who commands their respect. Otherwise, AVID will be no more than a costly study hall. Like all programs, AVID will rise or fall based on its leadership.
