As Strategic Opportunity Manager I lead one of our teams within Front End Innovation. Our team is responsible for the early stages of innovation, creating new opportunities for Stora Enso.

As Business Developer I am responsible for driving commercialisation of our innovative paper-based foam Papira. This includes identifying, evaluating and developing market opportunities, validating our value proposition in targeted segments, and feedbacking customer input back to the team to further develop both the product and the business. I am also ensuring that we have an in-depth understanding of the value chain and competitors, and that our life-cycle assessment and marketing activities support a sustainable and profitable growth. Direct customer interaction is a main part of my daily work.

As Innovation and Commercialization Manager I have a leading role in enabling commercialization within our innovation projects, building insight and marketing capabilities. I run a Business Development community with the purpose of speeding up commercialization and strengthening our innovation culture through training, experience sharing and implementation of common methods and tools. I plan and deliver workshops on a variety of topics related to commercialization.

In my role as Innovation Process Designer, I acted as an innovation processes catalyst, building a systematic approach of tools and methods for innovation and ideation processes, culture and techniques. I organised ideation campaigns and designed and executed innovation workshops. I also supported implementation and development of our internal stage-gate process.

In my work as a research engineer at the newly established Innovation Centre in Stockholm I have worked with cellulose conversion, MFC and biobarrier materials. Our projects are chosen to lead the way for Stora Enso to truly become a renewable materials company. Apart from R&D related project work, I have developed my knowledge of marketing and customer interviews. I have learned strategies for how to handle large organisational changes while still focusing on the task at hand.

Finland

I worked in projects aiming at developing new ways to utilise cellulose and cellulose derivatives. At the Research Centre in Imatra my work included experimental lab work, process development, method development and statistical analysis. Work environment safety was prioritized. I have also worked with patents and health and safety regulations, including FDA and EU approval processes.

I have been deeply involved within the scout movement since childhood. The time I have invested has varied from a few hours weekly to corresponding to a full time job, depending on my life situation. The learnings I have gained through this involvement are tremendous. During the years I have been part of numerous teams, at times as a member, other times as the leader. I have gained both theoretical and practical training of group dynamics, teamwork and leadership. I have a proven track record of successfully managing projects of different size. Being a leader and mentor for other adults has trained me to help others find their strengths and their motivation to contribute voluntarily. I have also deepened my self knowledge and my self leadership skills. The last years I have mainly dedicated my work to leadership training of adult scout leaders.

I independently planned and executed a study of different biodegradable polymers and their potential as drug delivery devices. I synthesized and characterized the studied polymers and I developed methods for measuring the drug release using HPLC- and UV- analysis. I learned to solve problems creatively and to justify my conclusions for other experts in the field. The work was done in collaboration with Orion Oyj.

My responsibilities included synthesisation and characterisation of different biodegradable polymers. The polymers were used to produce scaffolds for tissue-engineering applications. For polymer characterisation I used DSC-, SEC-, FTIR- and NMR-analysis. I learned laboratory practices and safety assessment.

I was responsible for planning and teaching an elementary course of 10 ECTS in statistics at Helsinki University. The tasks included lectures, exercises, including work with SPSS, and examination. I became confident at speaking in public, working independently and explaining subjects that are difficult or unfamiliar to the audience.

I received and prepared invoices for several of the companies in the Quattrogroup. I assisted in bookkeeping and salary calculations, as well as in general office practises, including customer service tasks. I learned to treat numbers with care and accuracy.

I made 3D models in Matlab of human jaws for dental imaging. I learned to work independently and to master coding in Matlab.
