Part of a small department at the Cleveland Council on World Affairs working with the International Visitor Leadership Program. Despite the size of the department the organization has hosted a considerable amount of visitors invited and funded by the U.S. Department of State annually. http://eca.state.gov/ivlpMy work included: - Researching and selecting which State Department sponsored programs for the Cleveland Council on World Affairs to pursue in order to find meetings that would prove mutually beneficial for visitors and local participants. - Independently planning and co-ordinating programs other important tasks involved making sure the program met the needs and goals of visitors as well as those of the Department of State, - Maintaining good relationships with local partners and resources, as well as with interpreters and visitors.- Accompanying the visitors throughout their stay in Cleveland to make sure that the program ran smoothly, as well as - Representing the Cleveland Council on World Affairs in meetings during the course of the program. The majority of these programs were part of the International Visitor Leadership Program, but also involved USAID programs such as Community Connections, the Jefferson Fellows through the East-West Center, the Asia Foundation's fellows, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's I-VOTE program, diplomats, and medical diplomacy programs. The many election programs that Cleveland, Ohio received through the Cleveland Council on World Affairs also included the program sponsored by the American Embassy in Stockholm and the Swedish Social Democratic Party for the Leadership of the Social Democratic Party, where I coordinated the program for and accompanied the Ohio group. Other responsibilities included - cultural and event planning, - managing program logistics, - coordinating volunteers and host families, as well - handling possible conflicts and sudden changes in the schedule.www.ccwa.org
