Josef Lee is a designer / animator / illustrator based in Singapore. At times, he also double up as a creative director, compositor, comic artist, educator, and author/artist of picture books.Coming from a background in branding and advertising (a Diploma in Visual Communications from Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore), Josef expanded his skills into the field of motion with a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Design from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia. With almost 20 years of experience in graphic design and branding, out of which 18 years focusing on motion graphics and broadcast design, Josef has personally garnered over 20 local and international design awards, including eight PromaxBDA GOLD, nine PromaxBDA SILVER and two PromaxBDA BRONZE Awards. The PromaxBDA Awards honours the best in entertainment marketing and design.In 2008, he founded motion design and creative studio, MOJO, grew the company to a strength of 10 within two years, and successfully led the studio to win over 30 local and international awards. MOJO was awarded the ‘2012/2013 Singapore Brands Award (Innovation Brand Award) and ‘Promising SME 500 Award 2012 (Platinum Category)’, an award which recognises business excellence based on a list of stringent judging criteria.In his free time, Josef enjoys writing and drawing short, illustrated stories and sharing them online on his blog, 'Josef Lee's Bedtime Stories for Adults'. Till date, he has created 18 picture-stories. In April 2017, Josef successfully published his first picture-book - 'Wake Me Up At Happyland' via a crowdfunding campaign. Since then, his works have attracted the attention of various publishers from Taiwan and China. Within 2 years, he has published a total of 9 picture-books and 1 novel adaptation. Another of his work was adapted into a children's play in Guangzhou, and slated to be performed all around China.Josef is currently an Adjunct Lecturer with The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) where he teaches students from the Diploma in Illustration with Animation. A passionate educator and speaker, Josef frequently shared at various schools and events / festivals (including the SWF2019 and Today at Apple) on various subjects ranging from picturebooks to creativity and storytelling.
