While working for Upward Bound, a federal TRIO program, I worked under the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to supervise, mentor, tutor, and teach high school students. The high school students ages range from incoming freshmen to recently graduated who will commence college in the fall.

In this role, I oversee the performance of Resident Advisors and Office Assistants working in the building under my supervision. I also meet with students who allegedly violate the student conduct code to promote a safer environment. Another important aspect of the role, is to participate in ongoing crisis management training, when serving on an on-call rotation and to advice student and parents with questions and concerns regarding their living arrangements. I lead weekly meetings with the student staff groups that I oversee while I partake in weekly development meetings within the department. I also plan and lead bi-weekly student staff development meetings for 70 student staff and 10 professional staff members

While in this position, I developed programs for residents while staying within a $150 budget. I also supported over 200 students with their transition to college by helping them feel welcomed, during my two years in the role. I attained community engagement through biweekly emails, bulletin boards, and monthly events. Most importantly, I managed residents’ needs through monthly check-ins, roommate mediations, and duty crisis response.

This role was at the Office of Legal Affairs. I organized emails sent to office attorney’s by adding them to a work queue and saving them to files so that upon attorney’s approval, contracts are sent to the university’s chief operating officer for review while performing clerical duties.

This role was for an immigration law firm in the area. During my time in the role I managed the main attorney and paralegals calendar, while speaking to prospective clients. I also managed my own case load and submitted applications for residency to the Department of Homeland Security, translated important government documents, translated and filled out court documents for child custody cases (for children of immigrant parents).

This was for the summer of Civil Rights Internship at the Heritage Museum. I was tasked with researching the role and impact of the Black and African American community within the area. That information would then be turned into a course for high school students, which was to be taught in the Summer of 2025.

While interning, I helped educate voters on the importance of voting and provided them with resources on how and where to vote. I was able to reach multiple voters a day, and explain the work of Andrew Rodriguez, and what his platform was.
