It was entrusted not only to keep the FIAT’s view mirrors market share, but also try to win projects from other divisions of the company. But one of the most important targets of the country manager was to help the new team to adapt to the spirit, values and work systems and procedures of the FICOSA Group, trying to be the best ambassador for the Italians in a new group for themManaging FicoMirrors Italia and FICOSA Italia consists on running the Technological and Development office with 35 employees in Turin and the two production plants in Turin and Morcone (south of Italy) with 211 and 150 employees each, where almost all the view mirrors are produced for the brands Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Iveco for the European market, and the view mirrors of Ferrari and Maserati.Due to the big crisis that the FIAT Group suffered on that time, that became a reduction of more than 25% of the sales in few weeks, and the labor union problems, the closure of the plant in Turin was done (one of the most difficult professional moments I have lived) and the transfer of production lines to the plant in the south, except for the view mirrors with high labor content, such as the Iveco trucks, which was transferred to the FICOSA plant in Poland.La adaptation of the resources to the new local market situation and the consolidation of the new Italian directive team are between other, some of the great achievements.The engineering centre of Turin became the R&D centre of excellence of the group in the development of view mirrors, where nowadays command shifting systems are being developed.

We won 100% supply of the rear tail-gate logo handle of SEAT, and 100% of body color painted door handles. But with out any doubt the most difficult and therefore satisfying achievement was to become security systems supplier of PSA Peugeot – Citroën by getting 100% of the Peugeot 307.Thanks to that, today’s HUF España’s sister plant HUF Portuguesa, has more than 50% of market share of PSA’s Security Systems.PurchasingDuring my responsibility of the purchasing department, we installed a system of purchasing cost reduction plan, with which we got very important achievements with long term supplier contracts being signed in plastic and mazak raw materials.     Since it was the plant with which I had more professional relations during my stage in France, and since knowledge of French was a requirement to run the plant, it was the plant chosen to start with my professional experience. During my mandatory military service at the Spanish Marines, I started working at that plant going back and forward from Barcelona to El Burgo de Osma, each time I had free time given by the commander. I started on this plant of production of mechanical cables and systems, to boost my knowledge on the Industrial / Production Areas. Once the mandatory military service was done, I was placed there definitively as Plant Manager.The plant with around 60 people on that time, was producing mechanical clutch, manual shifter and hand break cables for Renault and Peugeot-Citroën French automotive groups, as well as for Nissan and as supplier of semi-elaborated goods of other group production plants.I was located there for a short period of time, since in few months a near by FICOSA plant had a free position of Managing Director.
