STWS was founded in 2002 to help people heal from exposure to the hundreds of toxins present at Ground Zero and related sites on September 11th and its aftermath using holistic/integrative healing modalities. STWS has helped over 2700 people affected by 9/11 illnesses heal, including 1200 NYC firefighters. We offer Ayurvedic herbal formulas which gently detoxify the body and build up the immune system, breathwork and meditation workshops, energy healing, yoga, acupuncture and stress management. There are tens of thousands of people sick from the 9/11 toxins and trauma and public health officials say that hundreds of thousands of people are at risk. We have expanded our work to offer our programs to vets and active armed forces personnel, people in the Gulf region whose health has been compromised from exposure to BP oil spill and people affected by Hurricane Sandy. Over 400 vets have gone through our programs as well.

I provided therapy and counseling to children, adolescents and their families from a holistic and social justice framework, using an ecological, strengths-based, and collaborative approach. I was especially passionate about working with marginalized, undocumented and low-income populations to help them acquire the tools and coping skills to build greater self-awareness and self-empowerment.

Edited Maximum Security, The Meaning of True Freedom, by Alan Gompers. Alan was a Wall Street millionaire who turned to drug dealing that led to a life sentence. Inside prison Alan transformed his life, and has lectured all over the country speaking about the spiritual transformation and true freedom he found while incarcerated. Edit all written materials for the Maximum Freedom Foundation, the nonprofit created to bring the core message of the book, that true freedom can be found within through meditation, to people in need, especially the incarcerated, the underprivileged and at-risk youth.

July-December 2008-I helped NYC civil rights icon Dr. Eugene Callender prepare his memoirs. Dr. Callender’s many accomplishments include being a colleague of Martin Luther King, organizing the first community-based drug clinic in New York City, running both the Urban League and the Urban Coalition, and serving in the cabinets of Mayor John Lindsay and Governor Mario Cuomo. I also helped prepare Dr. Callender’s web site.

I worked with Harriette Cole on a book about how our close friend Elliott Berman faced his death with tremendous courage and grace. Harriette is a nationally syndicated columnist, bestselling author and lifestyle coach who appears regularly on Rachel Ray, the Today Show and many other television and radio programs.

I helped create and organize 15 fundraisers for The PRASAD Project, an international nonprofit that works in partnership with people in need all over the world to uplift the quality of their lives. The fundraisers raise a million dollars for the great work of PRASAD.
