Clinical and Strategic Consulting for Biotechnology Companies

SmartPharm Therapeutics developed non-viral gene therapy technologies utilizing novel nanoparticle formulations and nucleic acid technologies. Accomplishments include securing a significant DARPA grant to fund pre-clinical development that was followed by acquisition of the company by Sorrento Therapeutics.

Oversaw advancement of multiple clinical candidates including Sickle Cell, HFPEF, Achalasia and MELAS. Oversaw the division of the clinical group during the spinoff of Cyclerion from Ironwood.

Emerging Infectious Disease Program-Dengue Therapeutic Development

-Member of Executive Team-Oversight and management of all facets of development including clinical development, clinical operations, regulatory and GCP-Lead global strategic development in Singapore and other ASEAN countries

-Directed the the clinical and biomarker strategy for a novel influenza therapy that resulted in advancement of the program from a pre-clinical phase to Phase 2 human studies in 6 months -Performed strategic review of internal early stage programs providing clinical and scientific input-Evaluated innovative technologies at Genentech sponsored incubators and advised start-up biotech companies (StartX, Rock Health, Singularity University)

Draper Laboratory is an independent, non-profit research institute in Cambridge, MA. In my position as principal scientist in the biomedical engineering group I assumed the role as a principal investigator. My accomplishments include the following:-Program management and technical leader for government and industry funded multi-institutional projects in the fields of biomedical engineering, analytical chemistry and novel diagnostics.-Secured large grants totalling over $4 million from government and industry sponsors including NIH and DARPA.-Actively participated in business development with industry, military and other government sponsors.
